Sunday 13th September 2015 – Pentecost 16B (2)

Opening Prayer

Creator of the heavens and the earth,

the sky, sea and land

sing praise to You.

In passing breeze,

rolling wave,

and fertile soil

the power of Your creative hand is revealed

that silently Your praise is sung

and the knowledge of Your presence is shared

into the dark, bleak corners of the world.

Within these walls

the story of Your redeeming presence

is shared,

and within the company of Your saints

the laws and commands placed with all human hearts

are voiced as golden words,

worthy of praise and tenderly treasured

as the food by which all life is nurtured.

Easily tempted by bright lights,

and raging colours,

our focus can drift from all we know is good,

and our failings show

when other voices call us away from You.

In word and action

we hurt others,

and carry the pain of the cruelty we have felt.

Forgive us when You have not been reflected

in the passing of our days.

Lord have mercy.

Lord have mercy.

The Lord, our Rock and Redeemer

calls us back to follow Him

and meditate upon His word

that we might live more pleasing,

showing the presence of Christ in our actions.
